Boob Wine: What Looks Better Than a Chicken?
The story behind the woman on our label, and why we'll happily answer to Boob Wine.
Boob Wine…
Not the official name we gave our rosé, admittedly. But it seems to be sticking.
When we created La Femme est Magique, we wanted a bottle that people would notice. Something you'd spot behind a bar, on a restaurant table or sitting in an ice bucket and immediately want to know more about.
We'd already seen just how powerful a distinctive wine label could be. There are chickens, pigs, flowers, celebrities and plenty of very beautiful French-looking labels already competing for attention.
So we asked ourselves a very simple question:
What looks better than a chicken?
Boobs, apparently.
Where the idea came from
From the beginning, La Femme est Magique was always going to be about women.
The name La Femme est Magique translates to “The Woman is Magic”, and we wanted the bottle to represent the confidence, connection and fun that sits at the heart of the brand.
So when it came to creating the label, our first call was to our younger sister, Stephanie Jayne, an artist.
We explored various ideas, but kept coming back to the female form. There was something confident and unapologetic about it, without taking itself too seriously, which is exactly how we wanted the brand to feel.
Eventually, the woman you see on every bottle of La Femme est Magique was born.
And yes, she has boobs.
So... is it Boob Wine?
Since launching, we've heard our rosé referred to as “the boob wine” more times than we can count.
And we're absolutely fine with that.
In fact, we quite like it.
If someone walks into a bar and asks “Can I have that boob wine?”, they've remembered us. If someone spots the bottle across a restaurant and knows exactly which wine it is, the label has done its job.
Wine can sometimes be a very serious world. We don't think enjoying it has to be.
We're proud to make something that feels fun, approachable and a little different, while still taking what's inside the bottle very seriously.
More than a pair of boobs
There is, however, more behind the naked lady on our bottle, than simply getting noticed.
La Femme est Magique was created by two sisters and inspired by something we've learned through years of working alongside other women: when women support, encourage and champion each other, brilliant things happen.
The woman on our bottle isn't meant to represent one particular shape, person or idea of beauty.
She represents being comfortable in your own skin.
Confidence. Femininity. Freedom. Fun.
The kind of energy you feel when you're surrounded by your favourite people and can completely be yourself.
That's what La Femme est Magique is really about.
A great label still needs a great wine
Of course, getting someone to pick up a bottle is only half the job.
They have to want a second one.
Behind the playful branding is a rosé we spent months developing. Produced in the South of France, La Femme est Magique is a pale, crisp Mediterranean rosé made from Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah.
And before we'd even properly launched it, those two little boobs had made their way to the International Wine Challenge, along with the wine attached to them.
It came back with a Silver Medal and 93 points.
So while you might initially choose us because you like the bottle, we're hoping you'll come back because you love what's inside it.
Ask for the Boob Wine
La Femme est Magique was created for the good bits of life.
Long lunches. Girls' nights. Holidays. Sunshine. Celebrations. Catch-ups that turn into evenings. The “shall we just get another bottle?” moments.
It's more than a rosé.
It's a wine built on confidence, connection and fun.
But if that's a bit of a mouthful when you're ordering at the bar...
Just ask for the Boob Wine.
We'll know what you mean.
